The new trends forecast for 2026 indicate that tourism will be characterized by being more intelligent, emotional and adapted to the preferences of each traveler. The sector is irreversibly moving towards a more digital, sustainable and technologically advanced tourism experience. The recent sixth edition of the TIS - Tourism Innovation Summit, held in Seville, has established itself as an important knowledge hub that has made it possible to identify the factors that are changing the industry. In this environment of innovation and digital transformation, experts and global leaders have outlined new trends that favor a more personalized and emotional tourism, within the framework of a shift towards a regenerative tourism model, enhanced by the advent of Artificial Intelligence.

Below, we list the eight pillars that will influence the near future of the industry:

1. A traveler who shows greater awareness, is more selective and maintains his principles. The contemporary tourist no longer makes decisions based solely on destination or cost, but is driven by consistency. They spend more than five hours actively researching to ensure that their experience is aligned with their values of authenticity, sustainability and impact on local culture.

2. Artificial Intelligence as a new travel assistant. AI has evolved from a simple support to a creator that plans, suggests, adjusts and is present at every stage of the journey. Tourists are placing their trust in conversational tools that provide personalized and complete solutions, leaving conventional search engines behind.

3. Destinations managed through data. Tourist saturation has become a factor that can be managed through predictive analysis. With tools such as Nexus in Andalusia, occupancy levels and the movement of people are monitored in real time, allowing responsible decisions to be made that safeguard coexistence in local communities and ensure a balanced experience for visitors.

4. From a "sustainable tourism" approach to a regenerative tourism approach. Today, sustainability is just the beginning; the new goal is to achieve regenerative tourism. It is not just about avoiding causing harm, but about generating a positive impact by caring for the environment, boosting local economies and leaving a beneficial legacy for the community.

5. TikTok, Netflix and influencers as decision drivers. Today, visual inspiration has a greater impact than traditional campaigns. A 30-second video on TikTok or Instagram Reels, made by locals or authentic guides, can generate a strong desire to travel by presenting the vibrant culture and unfamiliar places in a genuine way.

6. Emotional branding of cities: narrating instead of describing. Today, destinations not only face competition from images of monuments, but must also highlight their identity and quality of life. The branding process is transformed into an intimate story, using podcasts and stories from local voices to forge the perception of the place in the traveler's mind.

7. The growth of affinity-based micro-groups. In addition to individual travel, the modality of shared travel in small groups of 10 to 15 people who, although they do not know each other, have common interests, values or ways of living the experience, is becoming more popular.

8. Accommodations that create hybrid experiences. Nowadays, hotels do not only stand out for their architecture, but also for their narrative and identity. Models such as boutique hostels and colivings are appearing, integrating technology (digital check-in, voice control) with the human touch and local culture, thus providing a more enriching experience than just a lodging service.
